We deliver exceptional learning experiences on our campuses – in locations in Chapel Hill and Charlotte – and online. Here’s a brief overview of our campuses, which are designed for learning, collaboration and community engagement among our students, faculty and staff.
Steven D. Bell Hall | McColl Building | Kenan Center | Rizzo Center | Charlotte
The new Steven D. Bell Hall is set to open in fall 2025, with classes starting there in January 2026.
Bell Hall will double our space for classrooms, student life and community interaction, including technologically advanced classrooms; a 40-seat outdoor tiered teaching space; a four-story inner atrium surrounded by student collaboration, dining and study areas; meeting and event spaces; dining facilities; and outdoor event spaces and terraces.
Sustainability is a hallmark of the design. It leverages the surrounding natural environment to reduce energy use; prioritizes green space surrounding the buildings; and incorporates nature into the design to support student wellness. It is on track to meet UNC’s Three Zeroes initiative, with targets including net zero water, zero waste to landfills and net zero greenhouse gas emissions. The goal is to earn a Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) Platinum rating from the U.S. Green Building Council and three stars from Fitwel, the highest ratings and certification standards offered by both groups.
Bell Hall is named in honor of Steven D. Bell (BA ’67).
The McColl Building is our hub for learning and research on the south campus of UNC-Chapel Hill and next door to the Dean E. Smith Center. It is home to our Undergraduate Business, Master of Accounting, MBA and PhD Programs. It features classrooms, faculty and staff offices, and Café McColl.
It is named in honor of Hugh McColl (BSBA ’57), retired chairman of the board and CEO of Bank of America.
The Kenan Center is located adjacent to the McColl Building. It is home to the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, the William R. Kenan Jr. Funds and Business School offices. It is a frequent venue for University-related functions and offers a range of flexible spaces – including a dining room and meeting spaces – and event planning support.
The Kenan Center was made possible by a gift from The William Rand Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust.
The Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center is designed for executive learning and is located about a mile from the McColl Building. It is the home of UNC Kenan-Flagler Executive Development, where we design programs to meet the needs of leaders across industries, including Fortune 500 firms; government and defense organizations; and non-profits. Our Weekend Executive MBA students attend classes at the Rizzo Center, which features classrooms, study areas and breakout rooms to accommodate team projects and group work, hotel rooms and dining locations.
It is named in honor of the late Paul Rizzo (BSCOM ’50), former UNC Kenan-Flagler dean and legendary IBM vice chairman of the board.
The Business School’s first campus outside of Chapel Hill is in Legacy Union’s new Bank of America Tower on South Tryon Street. It is the home of our Charlotte Executive MBA Program, and an ideal location to offer UNC Kenan-Flagler Executive Development programs and to convene alumni and other business leaders and for hosting a range of activities and events.
The 16,000 square-foot campus includes classrooms, huddle rooms for small-group discussions, open areas for networking and an outdoor terrace overlooking Charlotte’s South End.
