Dear Fellow Kenan-Flagler Alumni,

I’m pleased to welcome you as a member of the UNC Kenan-Flagler Seattle Alumni Chapter in its inaugural year! We have over 150 registered alumni in our Chapter. As Seattle continues its exponential growth, so too does our local Tar Heel community. Thank you for wanting to participate in this group and stay connected with our fantastic business school! Looking forward, I’m excited to meet as many of you as I can. I also hope to do everything I can to make connections happen for you and our community. We truly have a diverse alumni group in Seattle, so I believe there is a lot we can learn from each other. These connections and events will be both beneficial and fun.

I graduated from the MBA@UNC program in April of 2015 and work at Dell Technologies in Sales Planning and Strategy. I’ve spent over ten years in the tech industry in various Sales Operations roles. As a relatively new Seattle resident (as of September 2017), I have been enjoying exploring the different neighborhoods, food, and hikes the area has to offer. When I’m not working or out exploring Seattle, you can find me at the YMCA teaching boot camp classes or headed off on my next travel adventure!

Doug Koury joined Microsoft in 2018 as an Operations Program Manager, where he works to modernize and digitally transform the way Microsoft launches new products, services and business models. Before Microsoft, Doug had an 8-year career in the United States Navy as a Submarine Officer. He served on the nuclear submarine, USS MICHIGAN, holding various leadership roles focused on project management, data analytics, and strategic operations. Doug also attended the U.S. Navy Dive School and served as his submarine’s Diving Supervisor. A new Tar Heel graduate, Doug received his MBA from Kenan-Flagler in December 2017. In his very first MBA course, Analytical Tools, Professors Mersereau and Neebe showed him various ways that businesses visualize and draw insights from data. Fascinated by these examples, Doug pursued a concentration in Data Analytics and Decision Making. The additional analytical coursework sparked Doug’s interest in companies- like Microsoft- on the forefront of emerging technologies. Learning about popular topics like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning broadened Doug’s interest in analytics, and he is excited to see how they can disrupt and improve many of today’s industries. Doug also holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University. Outside of the office, Doug is involved with organizations that assist Veterans as they transition to civilian life and employment. He enjoys adventuring around the Seattle area- hiking, skiing and brunching- with his wife, Megan, and their rescue pup, Jill.
