Chris Bingham is an expert in innovation, growth, leadership and strategy in dynamic markets. He is an award-winning teacher and researcher in these areas.
His research has been published in all of the top management journals and has received numerous best-paper awards. He also publishes in Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review. He received the Bullard Faculty Research Impact Award at UNC Kenan-Flagler, which recognizes a professor whose research has had a significant impact on the practice of business.
Dr. Bingham is the co-author of the book “Productive Tensions: How Every Leader Can Tackle Innovation’s Toughest Tradeoffs” (MIT Press and Penguin Random House, 2022).
His work has been featured in outlets such as National Public Radio, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Bloomberg, CNBC, Fortune and Reuters.
Dr. Bingham has won the Award for Excellence in Executive MBA Teaching at UNC Kenan-Flagler several times. He had the highest rated core class, Strategic Management, in the Full-Time MBA Program.
He frequently teaches and works with executive audiences, including 3M, Astellas, AvalonBay, CenturyLink, CommScope, Corning, CSX, FedEx, Goodyear, Huber Woods, IHRSA, Intel, Leidos, Lenovo, Levi Strauss, Liberty Hardware, Lockheed Martin, Marriott, PRA, Procter & Gamble, Royal Caribbean, Southern Glazers, Schaeffler, Skanska, Sunbelt Rentals, Tanger, Textron, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy, U.S. Space Force, Veterans Affairs, Volunteers of America, Vulcan Materials and WL Gore.
His industry experience includes work with McKinsey & Company, Deloitte Consulting and Price Waterhouse, as well as with several entrepreneurial firms.
He is a former nationally sponsored snowboarder and is fluent in Spanish.
He received his PhD in strategy, organizations and entrepreneurship from Stanford University. He received his BS in accounting and his MBA/MA from Brigham Young University, where he graduated with honors.
