Jenna Haugen teaches business and managerial communication at UNC Kenan-Flagler. Her courses address the art of communication in a multitude of contexts from the elevator to the boardroom.
Dr. Haugen has written about experiential education, identity management, leadership, best practices for teaching and learning, and community partnerships.
Her research has been published by Communication Teacher, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, Business and Professional Communication Quarterly and International Journal of Business Communication.
She co-authored the open-access textbook “Business Communication: Five Core Competencies.”
Dr. Haugen joined UNC Kenan-Flagler from the University of Louisville College of Business, where she was recognized for her teaching and service. She served as director of the Social Enterprise Incubator and led the college’s community engagement efforts.
She is passionate about developing leaders who are capable of contributing to their communities. She served as the vice president of community for the Young Professionals Association in Louisville and was recognized by Louisville Business First as a Young Leader.
She received her PhD in communication studies from the University of Kansas, and her MA in communication and her BA in corporate and organizational communication from Western Kentucky University.
