Sibel Sözüer’s research focuses on leveraging text mining, machine learning, optimization and econometric methodologies for business applications, specifically for applications related to innovation, food and well-being. She is interested in research questions related to creativity-based new product development, crowdsourcing in innovation, sustainability and consumer health.

Her teaching interests include core marketing courses, new product development and data-driven marketing.

Dr. Sözüer received the Shankar-Spiegel Dissertation Proposal Award and ISMS Early Stage Research Grant for her dissertation work.

Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked as a product marketing manager for five years at a home appliances company and generated value for consumers through creating, communicating and delivering products they need. Her industry experience as a marketing professional sparked her interest in developing a deeper understanding of the marketing field and pursuing research to enhance innovation and consumer well-being.

She received her PhD in marketing from Columbia Business School and her MS and BS in industrial engineering from Bilkent University.
