UNC Investment Management Club (for MBA students)

The UNC Investment Management Club serves MBA students passionate about investing and interested in pursuing a career in investment management.

Our club is focused on:

  • Developing students into leading investment management professionals, by providing training and recruiting support
  • Promoting and growing the investment management network at UNC by fostering relationships between students, alumni and enhancing relationships with investment management firms
  • Attracting top-tier investment management talent to the UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA Program

Investment Management Club members are passionate about pursuing a career in the industry. UNC Kenan-Flagler has one of the leading alumni networks in the investment management industry. Our industry partnerships and alumni provide students with networking and career building initiatives in addition to learning opportunities. Our key offerings include weekly club meetings (known as CareerLabs); the fall career treks to New York City, Boston, Chicago and Charlotte; guest speaker events; and collaborating on the Alpha Challenge and student-managed funds.

Investment management is defined as any role that involves investment management of financial assets for institutions or its clients. Roles include but are not limited to: buy-side and sell-side research, private equity, private wealth management, sales and trading, asset allocator roles and investment consultant roles.

John Ames Murray

President
Co-VP, Equity Research

John Ames Murray

Ames Murray is the President of the Investment Management Club, Co-Vice President of Equity Research, and a member of the student-managed Global Perspectives Fund.

In the summer of 2025, Ames worked as an Equity Research Summer Associate at Evercore in New York City. During his first year at Kenan-Flagler, he competed in the Alpha Challenge, one of the nation’s premier investment competitions, where his team earned first and third place finishes.

Prior to business school, Ames was an Equity Research Analyst at Alexander Capital Advisors, a small-cap value-focused hedge fund, where he conducted fundamental research in the industrials sector. He began his career at Goldman Sachs.

Ames holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from Elon University, where he graduated with honors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Parker Haskin

Executive Vice President & Co-VP, Private Wealth Management

Parker Haskin

Parker Haskin is the Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Leadership & Development for Private Wealth Management.  In the spring of 2025, he worked with Callodine Strategic Credit through the PRIME Program, and this past summer interned with a family office in Durham, focusing on their direct private equity investments. Additionally, he is a member of the AIM Student Managed Investment Fund. Parker is a graduate of Elon University and a former student-athlete, playing baseball both there and at UNC, where he finished his career in 2024.

 

 

Vincent Galioto

Equity Alpha Challenge Chair
Co-VP, Equity Research

Vincent Galioto

Vince Galioto is the chair of the Alpha Challenge for the Investment Management Club and a VP of Equity Research. Before business school, Vince was an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army, stationed with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  In the summer of 2025, he will join MFS Investment Management in Boston, Massachusetts, where he will intern with the equity research team.

He received a BA in economics from The Ohio State University

Omar Estrada

Credit Alpha Challenge Chair
VP of Finance, Credit & Quantitative Finance

Omar Estrada

Omar Estrada is the Alpha Challenge Credit Chair and serves as the VP of Finance and VP of Credit & Quantitative Finance for the Investment Management Club. In the fall, he competed in the Credit bracket of UNC’s Alpha Challenge and participated in UCLA’s Credit Pitch Competition. Before his MBA, Omar spent eight years as a program manager at the Colorado Department of Education, where he most recently co-led the state’s School-Based Medicaid Program in partnership with the state’s Medicaid agency.
He holds a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Natalie Rogers

I am originally from Morgantown, West Virginia, and after graduating from West Virginia University, started my career as a credit analyst and commercial loan underwriter at United Bank. I am pursuing my MBA with concentrations in Capital Markets & Investments and Corporate Finance. During the summer of 2025, I will be working as a corporate finance graduate summer intern at State Street in Boston, MA.

 

 

Katja Muller

Head of Outreach
VP, Private Capital

Katja Muller

Katja Muller is the Investment Management Club’s Head of Outreach and VP, Private Capital. In spring 2025, Katja worked in equity research with Thornburg Investment Management. While at Kenan-Flagler, she competed in both equity and fixed income competitions, with her Alpha Challenge team placing 4th overall and winning the Popular Vote, and her MIT Stock Pitch Competition team also placing in 4th. Before business school, Katja was the Director of Retail at One Acre Fund – Rwanda where she oversaw a network of joint ventures. She started her career in consulting at Deloitte, fka Monitor Group after earning her BS in Economics at Wharton.
