Our club is focused on:
Investment Management Club members are passionate about pursuing a career in the industry. UNC Kenan-Flagler has one of the leading alumni networks in the investment management industry. Our industry partnerships and alumni provide students with networking and career building initiatives in addition to learning opportunities. Our key offerings include weekly club meetings (known as CareerLabs); the fall career treks to New York City, Boston, Chicago and Charlotte; guest speaker events; and collaborating on the Alpha Challenge and student-managed funds.
Investment management is defined as any role that involves investment management of financial assets for institutions or its clients. Roles include but are not limited to: buy-side and sell-side research, private equity, private wealth management, sales and trading, asset allocator roles and investment consultant roles.

President
Jesus Fernandez is president of the Investment Management Club, program manager for the Fundamental Investing Practicum, and member of the AIM student managed investment fund.
Throughout the spring of 2024, Jesus has worked as an Equity Research PRIME participant with CJS Securities. In the summer of 2024, he will join American Century Investments in Kansas City, Missouri, where he will work with teams across various growth and value strategies. Before graduate school, Jesus spent five years as a ground radio repairman and platoon sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps. He received a BA in philosophy from American Military University.
Executive Vice President & Vice President of Outreach
Jake Melman-Rogers is the Investment Management Club’s executive vice President and vice president of outreach. During the summer of 2024, Jake worked as an MBA associate at J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank in New York City. As a first-year at UNC Kenan-Flagler, his team placed third in the Alpha Challenge Credit Competition. Additionally, Jake is a liaison for the Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital Club and for the Blue Cup, the annual athletic competition between the MBA programs at UNC and Duke.
Prior to pursuing his MBA, Jake held positions at multiple tech startups and venture capital firms. He holds a BA from the University of Virginia and is a native of Washington, D.C.
Chair, Alpha Challenge
Ryan Durr is the chair of the Alpha Challenge for the Investment Management Club and the VP of finance for the MBA Student Association at UNC Kenan-Flagler. Before business school, Ryan was an investment analyst at Orange County Employees Retirement System. Prior to this, he was a MBS reporting analyst at US Bank.
He received a BS in finance from California State University Northridge and is a CFA charterholder.
Chair, Wednesday Initiative of the Alpha Challenge
Tanya Aggarwal is the chair of Investment Management for All: Wealth and Women. She is originally from India and attended Ramjas College, Delhi University, and is a Chartered Accountant. Before graduate school, Tanya worked in forensic auditing and income tax litigation. In the spring of 2024, she worked as an equity research PRIME participant with White River Value advisors and will spend her summer with Amgen at Thousand Oaks, California, as an FSLDP.

Vice President, Leadership & Development (Equity, Credit, Alts.)
Cameron Goodman is the Investment Management Club’s co-vice president of leadership and development (Equity, Credit, Alts.). During the summer of 2024 Cameron worked as an MBA associate at Purpose Equity, a boutique investment banking firm based out of Columbia, South Carolina. Throughout the spring, Cameron worked with a private equity firm called Modern Energy to help develop valuation frameworks for their portfolio companies. Prior to returning to get his MBA, Cameron worked for 10 years in sales and operations for a specialty heavy lifting and transportation subcontractor.
Vice President, Private Wealth Management
Jack Austin is the VP of private wealth management for the Investment Management Club at UNC Kenan-Flagler . Over the summer of 2024, Jack interned with J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank in the Atlanta office.
Prior to business school, Jack served in the U.S. Army for seven years in infantry and special operations as an Army Ranger. He holds a BA in business from Arizona State University.
Vice President, Socials & Communications
Vijay Mishra is the vice president of socials and communication for the Investment Management Club and the president of the golf club at UNC Kenan-Flagler. Before business school, Vijay played professional golf on the mini tours and worked for a private equity hospitality fund called Essex Garden Investments. Prior to this, he worked in operations for his family business.
He received a BA in psychology from Winthrop University and is now pursuing concentrations in Investment Management and Real Estate.
