The Charlotte Executive MBA is designed for working professionals who live close enough to the Charlotte metro to attend classes once a week. The structure provides built-in motivation to keep moving forward to your goals, along with the flexibility to maintain your career and personal responsibilities.
We offer one program start a year, with orientation in September (shared with your Evening Executive MBA peers) and classes beginning in October.
During the first year you’ll take core courses that meet on Monday evenings, alternating with some Friday classes featuring Executive Lunches that bring in expert speakers and business leaders.

Charlotte Executive MBA courses are taught in a format that blends in-person and online asynchronous coursework. This structure allows you to gain familiarity with content and concepts before class, maximizing the opportunity for discussion and reinforcing real-world application during class meetings.
During your second year, you’ll have access to several dozen elective course options to target the skills you need to achieve your career goals. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in hands-on experiential and global learning. Executive MBA electives are offered in a variety of scheduling options – including weeknight, weekend and virtual course options – giving you significant flexibility to customize your MBA.
Throughout the program, you’ll participate in several dynamic, immersive learning and networking experiences with your peers from our other Executive MBA formats.
Before the start of the program, Charlotte Executive MBA and Evening Executive MBA students come together in Chapel Hill for orientation. During this three-day weekend, you’ll participate in engaging networking opportunities, get an introduction to the Executive MBA experience, curriculum, and staff, and participate in pre-MBA programming that will set you up for success in your first term.
After that, all Executive MBA students come together twice during the program for Impact Weekends, where you’ll collaborate with peers during an inspiring weekend of classes, workshops and social activities. These required courses are held over a three-day weekend, and are offered alternately between Chapel Hill and Charlotte, NC (we recommend you complete them in your first year). During Impact Weekends, you’ll participate in lectures and workshops focused on special leadership topics, hear from area executives, engage with local employers, and network with peers and UNC Kenan-Flagler alumni.
