The Evening Executive MBA is designed for working professionals who live close enough to Chapel Hill to attend classes once a week. The structure provides built-in motivation to keep moving forward to your goals, along with the flexibility to maintain your work and life responsibilities.
We offer one program start a year, with orientation in September (shared with your Charlotte Executive MBA peers) and classes beginning in October.
During the first year you’ll take core courses that meet on Monday evenings from 5:30 – 9:50 pm, including breaks. You’ll also participate in two required Impact Weekends, where you’ll come together to network and collaborate with peers from our Weekend Executive MBA and Charlotte Executive MBA programs during an inspiring weekend of classes, workshops and social activities.

In the second year, you’ll have access to several dozen elective course options, including experiential and global opportunities. Executive MBA electives are offered in a variety of scheduling options – including weeknight, weekend and virtual course options – giving you significant flexibility to customize your MBA and target the skills you need most.
Like your core coursework, Executive MBA electives are taught in a format that blends live learning and asynchronous coursework, making class sessions highly discussion-based to deepen the impact of your coursework. Elective courses comprise a significant portion of your total program credit hours (nearly 40%), which is unique compared to other Executive MBA programs.
During the program, you’ll participate in several of these dynamic, immersive learning and networking experiences with your peers from our other Executive MBA formats.
Before the start of the program, Evening Executive MBA and Charlotte Executive MBA students come together in Chapel Hill for orientation. During this three-day weekend, you’ll participate in engaging networking opportunities, get an introduction to the Executive MBA experience, curriculum, and staff, and participate in pre-MBA programming that will set you up for success in your first term.
After that, all Executive MBA students come together twice during the program for Impact Weekends. These required courses are held over a three-day weekend, and are offered alternately between Chapel Hill (March) and Charlotte, NC (September). During Impact Weekends, you’ll participate in lectures and workshops focused on special leadership topics, hear from area executives, engage with local employers, and network with peers and UNC Kenan-Flagler alumni.
