Full-Time MBA Corporate Finance Concentration | UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School

The Corporate Finance Concentration teaches core skills in financial modeling, debt and equity issues, valuation, mergers and acquisitions, financial planning, risk management, financial reporting and analysis, and taxation. These are necessary for corporate finance positions and other careers, such as consulting.

With a Corporate Finance Concentration, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge to be successful working for:

Investment banks and commercial banks
Corporate finance, treasury, and business development positions in Fortune 500 and mid-cap companies
Financial consulting, general management consulting, and corporate strategy roles
Venture capital and private equity firms, and
General management positions

At UNC Kenan-Flagler, we routinely place about a quarter of our top graduates in corporate finance jobs at investment banks, corporations and venture capital. The investment-banking component of corporate finance placement has historically been around 15% of our hiring. Another important placement for students is in corporate finance consulting positions. Our graduates often take roles in industry finance and commercial banks through our alumni network.

Finance Development Program (FDP)

UNC Kenan-Flagler invests significantly in a financial skills training program that supplements the academic curriculum and gives students the necessary practical skills for successful finance careers, particularly in investment banking. We offer courses in financial modeling, corporate valuation, deal structures, interview prep and many other topics related to finance careers. These are offered at no additional charge and are exclusively for UNC Kenan-Flagler students.

Capital Markets Lab

Students hone key skills of financial services professionals in this state-of-the-art learning environment. With 20 Bloomberg terminals and access to other resources such as Factset, the lab provides a real-world setting for students to manage equity and fixed-income portfolios.

Investment Banking Case Competitions

Teams of MBA students represent UNC Kenan-Flagler in many company-sponsored case competitions each year. Case competitions provide you opportunities to apply your industry and technical knowledge and to showcase strategic thinking and presentation skills to potential employers.

Student-Managed Funds

Students manage live portfolios in public securities through the Global Perspectives hedge fund, a private equity fund, and a real estate fund, developing tangible skills in global macroeconomic asset allocation, portfolio management, and investment communication. Students manage all aspects of the investment cycle – raising capital, sourcing deals, performing due diligence and underwriting investments.
