Spend eight weeks living and working in one of the most cosmopolitan and exciting cities in the world on the international business internship in London. During this summer experience, you will apply the theories and concepts you’ve learned in class to an international working environment, learning and practicing the professional customs, behaviors and norms of another culture.

Since you’ll be working with other international students on this program, you’ll expand your network while gaining valuable professional experience. The skills you develop on this internship will transform you as a leader and give you a distinct competitive advantage in the job market. Along with practicing fundamental workplace skills, you will demonstrate that you can work in a diverse environment, adapt to change, be a flexible problem solver and integrate successfully into a diverse and cross-cultural team—all high-demand skills for today’s globally minded employers. You will have access to professional internship opportunities spanning a wide variety of industry sectors in London.

You will work Monday through Friday for eight weeks at your host company for 35-40 hours per week.

You must be admitted to the UNC Kenan-Flagler Undergraduate Business Program to apply for this program. Pre-business students, non-business majors and minors and non-UNC students are not eligible, with the exception of students in the Assured Admission Program (AAP). Admission status will be verified for all applicants.

Academics

On this program, you will be enrolled in BUSI 393–Internship Credit. This 3.0 business elective credit course includes submission of reflective activities assigned by UNC and a written evaluation from a supervisor that will be included as a component of your grade. In addition to earning business elective credit hours, this program also fulfills the Experiential Education/High-Impact Experience requirement.

Program Provider

This program is run through a third-party provider, The Intern Group.

The Intern Group provides management and support to students for the duration of the program. Fully trained local staff will be the principal contact for students on matters related to the internship and will provide information as needed.

The Intern Group works with each student to coordinate an internship that will provide meaningful, project-based work with excellent supervision and mentoring. In addition to the internship itself, The Intern Group offers professional development workshops and social programming with the larger intern cohort.

Housing

The Intern Group provides eight weeks of housing. As an intern in London, you will have your own private ensuite bedroom in student residence-style accommodation, giving you a personal and familiar place to return to at the end of the day. You will be sharing your living spaces with other interns and international students, making for excellent opportunities to network and make friends! You will have access to WIFI and utilities, bed linens, laundry facilities, and a fully equipped kitchen. The housing also has 24/7 front desk security for your peace of mind.

The Intern Group’s accommodations are excellently located in Zones 1-3. All of the residences are near one another and served by many transport links to Central London, making them the ideal base for exploring London during your stay! All of our accommodations are just a short stop away from some of London’s top attractions, green spaces, and biggest hotspots. The cost of housing is included in program fees.

Withdrawal Policy: Once a student accepts their offer/enrolls on a study abroad program, the spot will be considered filled and will not be offered to another student. Students who withdraw from UBP Global are responsible for non-recoverable costs including the Global Programs Administrative Fee. Your student account will be assessed charges to cover any/all amounts that Kenan-Flagler UBP Global programs has committed or paid on your behalf and are non-recoverable at the time of withdrawal. Such costs include, housing, meals, transportation and any expenses that may be associated with faculty and support participation on your program (if applicable).

Travel Documents

Do you have a valid passport? If yes, check your passport’s expiration date to ensure that your passport is valid at least 6 months after your program’s scheduled end date. If not, you’ll need to submit a passport renewal application.

Do you need to apply for a passport (first time or renew)? If yes, we recommend that you get started on your passport application right away as you’ll need time to collect documents like your birth certificate to include as part of your application. For complete instructions click here.

Will I need immigration documents? If you are accepted into this program you may need to obtain a Tier 5 visa for the United Kingdom. For the visa application, you will need your passport along with other documentation from our office and the program provider. The program provider will provide further information upon acceptance into the program. Please set up an appointment with your Global Programs Advisor to discuss.
