Spend eight weeks interning for a company in Singapore, one of the most fascinating and dynamic cities in the world. During this summer experience, you will apply the theories and concepts you’ve learned in class to an international working environment, learning and practicing the professional customs, behaviors and norms of another culture.
Interns will work with a team in Singapore and will have frequent engagement with their supervisor and working teams. Interns will also interact frequently with our internship provider, Global Academic Ventures.
The skills you develop on this internship will transform you as a leader and give you a distinct competitive advantage in the job market. Along with practicing fundamental workplace skills, you will demonstrate that you can work in a diverse environment, adapt to change, be a flexible problem solver and integrate successfully into a diverse and cross-cultural team—all high-demand skills for today’s globally minded employers.
Singapore is a large modern city with a diverse population of over 5 million inhabitants. Located in Southeast Asia, Singapore is considered one of the world’s leading financial centers.
Singapore’s history dates back to the 11th century. As a port city, Singapore has a history of being conquered. The Portuguese destroyed the city in the 1600s, and the British took control in the early 1800s. During World War II the island was occupied by the Japanese, then control reverted back to the British, then the Malay, and, in 1965, Singapore gained independence. Singapore has a highly developed free market economy and has been applauded for its visionary development.
You will work Monday through Friday for eight weeks at your placement company for 40 hours per week.
