Italy: IES Abroad Milan

Students will take 15-19 credit hours, including a required IES Abroad Italian language course, in addition to Business-related courses. Students can take the full course load at IES or elect to take courses at IES and Bocconi. If electing to take courses at IES and Bocconi, students must take at least 2 courses at Bocconi.  2 Bocconi courses are included in the program tuition at no extra cost. There is a supplemental fee for taking a third class at Bocconi (*extra cost of up to $1,870 USD). Option 1 = IES 

• IES Abroad Italian Language course (6 UNC credits)
• 3-4 English-taught IES Abroad courses (3 UNC credits each)

Option 2 = IES + 2 Bocconi courses

• IES Abroad Italian language course (6 UNC credits)
• 1-2 English-taught IES Abroad courses (3 UNC credits each)
• 2 Business courses at Bocconi (6 Bocconi credits; 3 UNC credits each)

This program fulfills the Experiential Education requirement or the High Impact Experience requirement (if you are under the new IDEAs curriculum).

IES Milan does offer housing placement.  You will need to submit Housing Form, Form of Agreement and Waiver, and Medical History & Physician’s Exam form. Homestay, Dormitory and Apartment options are available.  The dormitory is a city dorm open to all university students in Milan; therefore space is usually limited, but possible.  Apartments are spread throughout the city but near public transportation; the maximum commute is 45 minutes.

Funding your global program

The Undergraduate Business Program offers scholarships to support our students who wish to participate on a global program. Please visit the Scholarships and Financial Aid page to learn more.

Do you have a valid passport? If yes, check your passport’s expiration date to ensure that your passport is valid at least 6 months after your program’s scheduled end date. If not, you’ll need to submit a passport renewal application.

Do you need to apply for a passport (first time or renew)? If yes, we recommend that you get started on your passport application right away as you’ll need time to collect documents like your birth certificate to include as part of your application. For complete instructions click here.

Will I need immigration documents? If you are accepted into this program you will need to travel to an Italian consulate/embassy in the United States to obtain a visa permitting you to study in Italy. For this appointment, you will need your passport in hand along with other documentation from our office and the host university office.
